As always Professional Beauty Magazine will be featuring what is at the cutting edge of beauty and fashion in their up coming Jan/Feb 2013 issue.

Eyelashes are really big at the moment both in popularity and size, and I love the feature that will be appearing in the next edition you'll get to read all about the latest styles. Our stylist Gabby Paterson likend them to little butterflies on your face and she's brought that theme into our shoot.

You'll also love the Beauty Retail section, which features the best new products of the season, it's the professionals bible for the beauty industry.

Street Art

Not everyone will be with me here, but I love the ever changing face of Sydney's Street Art.
Love it or hate it you've got to acknowledge the skill and effort that some artists put into this impermanent art form. Here are a few shots from my latest ventures into the streets of Newtown & St Peters.

It's a tough job but someone has to shoot a nice bottom in King Gee's.

These shots will be used in one of King Gee's latest catalogues for their new range of mens workwear pants. I've been lucky enough to be associated with these guys over many years and love shooting for them, they are a great team. I look forward to getting a few copies of the catalogue when it goes to print.

Trelise Cooper Spring Summer Collection Preview

I was lucky enough to be invited to a showing of Trelise Cooper's Spring Summer 2012/13 collection last week.
The event was hosted by Ashleigh Sharman, a Sydney based personal stylist and journalist.
Ashleigh presented the collection and offered advice about dressing for your body shape, selecting the right garments and she also explained the latest fashion trends.
A great night which was attended to some of Trelise's VIP clients, and some new ones that were certainly impressed with her offerings.

The Wild Rover

The seats are still up on the bar but Tom & I were allowed in pior to the opening to shoot some  great cocktails on location at "The Wild Rover" yesterday. This great little watering hole on Campbell Street in Surry Hills whose opening is much anticipated should be in operation by October. This location will also be one of the bars that will be visited by Sydney Bar tours when it finally opens it's doors.
Great atmosphere and cool decor from the people that brought you the much acclaimed Grandma's Bar on Clarence Street.

Good Luck with the grand opening guys!

Tongan Holiday

Hi All,

As some of you might already I recently spent a couple of glorious weeks in sunny Tonga. A small group of islands in the South Pacific that is pretty close to paradise.

Instead of a big party my dear friend Peta wanted to Travel to Tonga to celebrate her 40th birthday, she didn't have to twist my arm too much when she asked if we would like to come with her. In the end there was a group of nine including my two young neices who traveled over to relax and celebrate.

Unfortunately while I was there my lens started playing up half way into the trip, but I still managed to get a few good holiday snaps.

I definately recommend Tonga as a travel destination if you like something rustic and relaxed, nothing too flash. The people are really nice and it's happy & safe for kiddies.

Malo! (thanks in Tongan)

The Nut Shop

To those of you who are familiar with the Sydney institution "The Nut Shop" located in The Strand Arcade. You'll know what I'm talking about when I say that their Vienna Almonds are to die for.
And for those of you who don't, well, what can I say, you are missing out on one of life's little pleasures.

This lovely family owned business has been producing a range of premium quality nuts and chocolates since 1939. The current owners are the grandchildren of Karl Mendles the original owner & roaster.

I must say it's always exciting to shoot their products and test out their latest offerings, YUM

Vintage Cocktails with Australian Bartender Magazine

It's been a while since my last post, I've been totally flat out and I've finally got a few minutes up my sleeve before my next shoot.
I did the latest Australian Bartender Magazine shoot with the magazine's drinks Editor Simon McGoram.
Simon has been scouring second hand bookshops and the internet to come up with some great vintage cocktails from times past, the images & recipes will be in the next issue of the Mag.

And keeping with the vintage theme we also shot barman Sam, from Gardels Bar at Porteno (pictured) skillfully pouring his cocktail creation.

Residents & Carers

Hi everyone,

Tom and I had the pleasure of photographing some lovely senior citizens and their kind carers this week.
We visited a great facility to photograph the staff and residents for their new brochures and marketing material.
It was so nice to work with such lovely people and to know that it was a truly enjoyable place to live.
Here are a few of my favourite shots from the day.

Noritake - beautiful new ranges

I've been busy over the last few years updating the Noritake image library and bringing their products new life through great imagery.

Most of our parents knew Noritake as exceptional quality Japanese fine bone china. My Mum got a Noritake set as a wedding gift. The quality hasn't changed, but over the years Noritake seems to have lost it's massive popularity, the products are great and excellent value for money so there is really no reason why this should be the case, we just needed to remind people about their great ranges.

Along with the Noritake Australia MD Terry Iwata, his National Sales Manager Steven Yeend and Marketing Manager Yoko Gomi we have started to create a bank of images that is finally targeted to the Australian market. Noritake is for people who want quality in their everyday living.

I hope you like my latest range shots for Noritake's new Black on Black and White on White range. This is a mix and match range with 3 different textured finishes in black & white, along with new images for their Hampshire Platinum range and a cutlery set that will be available soon, I certainly enjoyed styling and shooting them.

Totally Workwear Catalogue shoot

A great team effort last week working with the Totally Workwear Crew and my new assistant Tom Tramonte (who took the team Photo). I'd also like to thank hair & make up artist Karen Davidson.

We were briefed on the Totally Workwear shoot some weeks ago.The Brief was that we needed to back up the Television Commercials with a print catalogue. The photography was to reflect the same humour and look as the TVC (see attached).
The campaign features TWW satff being overly helpful, even applying your sunscreen. We wanted to bring that same humour to the print media. I've selected a few of my favourite shots form the shoot, and a team shot at the end of the shoot.
Thanks to everyone, Judy, Danelle, Liz, Karen, Tom, Mike, Brett, Tash, Todd and most of all Michael for bringing this fun shoot together. I can't wait to see the printed catalogue.

Up-and-coming actress Jessica Vickers

Hi All,

I had the great pleasure of photographing the beautiful up-and-coming actress Jessica Vickers.

Currently studying at NIDA, Jess needed some new head shots for her various auditions, she wanted me to capture her character, she didn't just want a beauty shot.  I went with a darker more dramatic look and I think you'll agree she looks fantastic!

A very talented young woman, you'll be seeing a great deal more of her on stage & screen in the future .

Sydney Uni Sports & Fitness

Gillian and I spent a great couple of days with the friendly staff at Sydney Uni Sports & Fitness (SUSF).
We managed to get some great shots in their gym and of all the facilities, which include 2 x gym's, squash & tennis courts, playing fields, a climbing wall, a heated Olympic swimming pool and much more. Anyone in the community can join and the fees are very reasonable.

The team at Southern Design will be taking care of updating the SUSF web site and brochures with the new images and we look forward to seeing the finished results:
